Muscle Tone & Body Building

Growth, tendons, stamina and the training that builds them.

Muscle is not only about appearance. It is where you store glucose, it is what protects your joints, and after about forty it is what you lose steadily unless you give the body a reason to keep it. Strength training is, unglamorously, one of the better investments available in ageing well.

What actually builds muscle

Progressive resistance. The load has to increase over time - more weight, more repetitions, less rest. A routine that never gets harder stops working, which is why people plateau.

Enough protein, spread across the day rather than in one large serving.

Rest. Muscle is built between sessions, not during them. Two to four sessions a week with recovery in between beats six exhausted ones.

Patience. Meaningful change takes months. Anything promising it in three weeks is selling something.

You do not need a gym to start. You need something heavy, something progressive, and eighteen months.

A word on shortcuts

Anabolic steroids and unlabelled "mass gainer" products bought without prescription carry serious risks to the heart, liver and hormonal system, and the Indian supplement market is poorly policed. If a product produces results that training alone would not, ask what is actually in it.

Products

Adjustable dumbbells

Buy these after three months of consistency, not before. Gear bought for motivation becomes furniture.
